What a thrilling evening:art auction for the benefit of the Hamburg cultural foundation in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe. You never know how auctions will turn out… the buzz paid off. My work was auctioned for more than twice as much as the valuation price. That made my day.
»Saul Leiter retrospective« opening yesterday night at Deichtorhallen in Hamburg.
It is a wonderful exhibition of a great photographer.
Yay! Finally I succeeded to show new work on my website.
You can see works of »Remember The Youth« and »Colonization«.
… “I wish my book to be published’ … to see this ad feels so nice!
So happy about my successful published book.

Amazing! Strandbeests
This is so beautifully amazing. Have a look.
“Kinetic sculptor and artist Theo Jansen builds ‘strandbeests’ from yellow plastic tubing that is readily available in his native Holland. The graceful creatures evolve over time as Theo adapts their designs to harness the wind more efficiently. They are powered only by the wind and even store some of the wind’s energy in plastic bottle ‘stomachs’ to be used when there is no wind.”

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Kulturpreis 2011 der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh)!
Vexed at wordpress, back on tumblr!
I spent 79 $ (!) for a wordpress template I used to make it look great. All of a sudden I have unsolicited advertisments on my blog. It is not labelled as an Ad. The beholders of my blog could think that it is part of my content. WordPress wants me to pay another $29.97 (!) per year per blog to stop that! That’s blackmail. No way. I quit. Now I am back on tumblr.
20 copies
The first 20 copies of my Out of Focus book arrived in Hamburg!
Got them directly from the bookbinder. Wonderful. Perfect timing.
Next week on October 13 at 4 pm I will present my book at the Frankfurt Book Fair. At the Kehrer Verlag stand K 533 in Hall 4.1.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life,” Jobs said. “Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Unique!

Mack Books: From print to the iPad
This is an interesting article published in the British Journal of Photography:
“Michael Mack has published some of the most beautiful photobooks of the past two decades. But, as he tells Diane Smyth, he’s become disillusioned with how the frenzied collectors’ market has skewed the business – which is why his new venture takes the photobook into the realm of apps….”
This a sneak peek for you. It shows a tiny little movie of the printing of my »Out of Focus« book in Karlsruhe at ebdruck in September 2011.
Printing clearance granted!
Printing clearance granted! Druckfreigabe erteilt!
It is such a weird feeling. I feel happy and kind of sad at he same time. It was such an intense time of planning, thinking, editing, designing, working, deciding. So many talks, so many travels and so much research I enjoyed doing so much.
Now my first book is just around the corner! Thrilling!
